Conference was a great success

Image
On 12th December 2019 hundreds of students met in a big video conference to share Christmas traditions around the world. Since 2015 our school has invited educators and their students from all continents to give information, sing, dance or whatever they prepare in advance to get the right mood to the upcoming Christmas event. This year, we invited educators and students, who are non- Christians, as well to join this conference, to learn, to compare and to identify themselves with their own religion. Many participant sang or had symbols to be shown during their presentations.  To cover time differences we set up 4 time slots of about 70 minutes each. So we could reach people in Oceania as well as classes from the American East Coast. But European classes also joined this event. Thanks to everyone between Manila and Holland/USA, who took strong effords to set up a well done meeting. See you again in 2020

schedule and presentations

Today I closed the application form and set up a schedule for the presentation for Thursday this week. Presentations prepared, presenters named. Hard working period of time.  Tomorrow we will do the final technological preparations to present from the school's stage.

Back channel

We have set up a back channel teachers Skype group to gather all participants and to spread information around. There are still a few colleagues with no access to Skype. So we must send infos by email to a small number of teachers. Those who are joining the Skype group have the chance to get to know each other in advance. That is a strategy we have already used several times with success. PS: The number of participants is increasing day by day. The technicians at school took strong effords to install internet facilities at our assembly hall (Aula) successfully. So we can relay our this year's event from a stage in the assembly hall instead from a classroom. That implicates that we can invite more kids from our school to join our session. We are very proud to mention that the German presentation this year will be a local collaborative session with the Gymnasium (secondary school), which is next to us. The music teacher from our neighbour school will perform some carols wit

Applications

Hi there, we are still in the situation to find further participants to our Christmas video event, where students from around the world will share their Christmas traditions. I am very happy to know some participants in this meeting who are non- Christians that that they try to learn about Christmas. I set up a back channel group with most of the participating teachers to share information in advance and the links for the video frame on the 12th December. It is good to know that they all get to know each other before.
